Lignin Sulfonate

Dust Control Product & Binder

What is lignin sulfonate?

Lignin sulfonate is a natural material derived from lignin. It is a by-product of the wood pulping process that is known for its binding, dispersing, and emulsifying properties.

Lignosulfonates have a wide variety of applications. In agriculture, lignin sulfonate is allowed for use in organic crop production as a plant and soil amendment (dust suppressant) and a floatation agent. It can also be used as a pellet binder.

Lignin For Dust Control

Unpaved Roads

Lignin sulfonate works as a dust suppressant and surface stabilization product on unpaved roads. Its natural adhesive properties bind road particles together.

Here are some benefits of applying it on roads:

  • Reduced dust
  • Better road visibility
  • Firmer road surface – fewer potholes, less loose dust
  • Reduced need for road repairs

It’s a good choice for customers looking for a non-toxic, natural and environmentally sustainable dust suppression product.

Other Surfaces

It can be used in areas such as:

  • Unpaved driveways
  • Unpaved parking lots
  • Construction areas
  • Vacant lots
  • Temporary helicopter landing areas

Pellet Binder

It also works as a pellet binder. Here are a couple ways it can be used:

  • Improves the durability of animal feed pellets
  • Reduces dust and limits product degradation during limestone pelletizing operations
